Business scenarios


After simulating different stakeholder roles during the testing phase, it was necessary to translate the experiences and influences in a business context. Very quickly, it became clear that centralizing all business actions in one transnational service center will not be feasible. Alternatively, it might be better to create a transnational platform framework with local service solutions. The local service shall close potential gaps between the technical solutions and the tenants.
We combined tenants’ needs with housing organizations’ expectations and their willingness for involvement as basis for business scenarios and differentiated seven scenarios depending on these factors. These business scenarios can show future service providers potential business possibilities in terms of supporting elderly people with ICT products.
Generally, we focused on “how” a business can be set up and which requirements should be considered to be successful. The question about “how much” this business will cost however needs to take the local situations into account.
All in all, the complete report closes with a more detailed description of a “mainstream business scenario” for an ICT service and illustrates the requirements necessary to succeed.

Requirement 1:

ICT services have to deal with different areas of concern for tenants, ideally in a modular way.



Requirement 2:

ICT services have to be affordable, well introduced and easy to handle for different target groups.

ICT services have a standardized data interface to enable easy exchange among technologies.

Requirement 4:

ICT services need for offering the main functionalities the support of key product suppliers to develop towards their data gateways. Or the ICT service limits the functionalities and does all the development including all further adjustments by itself.



 
    

Requirement 5:

ICT services need support of local players such as housing organizations. They have to define the level and calculate the costs of involvement i.e. regarding higher workload and training efforts, weigh it with their benefits and include it in their business strategy. If the level of involvement is below the necessary minimum, external service providers have to be involved to fill the service gap.
